Not a radical idea in horticulture of course, and I think its been used in fisheries management , but this is the first time I remember seeing the concept applied to animal agriculture / poultry husbandry.
Years before Guns, Germs and Steel or Collapse, Jared Diamond wrote this. It is not an opinion I share, but it is thought provoking.
