Calif dairies going broke due to feed, milk prices
Click the picture for an AP story on the current state of the California dairy industry squeezed between high feed prices and low milk prices.  California surpassed Wisconsin “America’s Dairyland” as the nation’s largest milk producer only 20 years ago, in part taking advantage of the widening gap between low milk prices and high production (including transportation) prices. Now, even as AP reports the decline of the California dairy industry they also report the growth of the industry in the north country of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Tip: eat all the ice cream you can now.
